About

Hello.

My name1me is Carleen and I’m a librarian.  Welcome to Jabberwocky.  I love being a librarian.  I enjoy thinking about what I do, writing about it, reflecting on it and of course, discussing it so please feel free to leave comments. 🙂

I currently work as an assistant librarian at SUNY Jefferson Community College in Watertown, New York.  I’ve been working in libraries in some capacity since 1999, but have only been sporting the snazzy official MLIS librarian title since 2006.   My interests range, although I tend to focus my reading and research on reference services,  information literacy for college/college bound students and how to use technology tools effectively to teach.

About the name of this blog:

Jabberwocky is the name of a nonsense poem from Lewis Carroll’s book Through the Looking Glass. After hearing the poem, Alice replies “Somehow it seems to fill my head with ideas – only I don’t exactly know what they are!”.  Sometimes being a librarian makes me feel that way too.
